Time for Cinema in Istanbul

Written by Zeynep Delav

THIS YEAR THERE ARE AWARD-WINNING FILMS THAT WILL BECOME THE MOST RECENT SAMPLES OF THE WORLD CINEMA AT THE ISTANBUL FILM FESTIVAL. THE FILMS, WHICH HAVE PREMIERED DURING THE FESTIVAL, ARE NOW WAITING TO BE SCREENED AMONG THEM, TALKED-ABOUT DOCUMENTARIES, CHILDREN’S FILMS, AND AN ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF BOTH OLD AND NEW TURKISH CINEMA CLASSICS.

There is a time for everything in Istanbul. For instance, the time for flowers, begonias, roses and tulips to blossom in spring… While some drape downwards, some proudly stand erect amongst its dense branches. You will become astonished at how they almost playfully dance about with each other as if it was planned beforehand. The merriment of the blossomed flowers will create a screen of festivity before our eyes. However, the astonishment of the spring of 2015 shall not end there as such… For instance, if the whole matter is about appealing to our eyes and it is time… Then, let us now announce that it is time for cinema in Istanbul.

The 34th Istanbul Film Festival Programme was announced at a joint press conference by the General Manager of IKSV Görgün Taner, the General Manager of Akbank Hakan Binbaşgil and the Director of Istanbul Film Festival Azize Tan.
