Istanbul Book Fair Begins

To be held between 7-15 November this year, Istanbul Book Fair’s theme was determined as “Humor: Smiling upon Life”.

Activity schedule of Romania, guest country of Istanbul International Book Fair organized for the 34th time this year in collaboration with Turkish Publishers’ Union, was also announced. Romania will be in the fair with the slogan “We owe you words”. The reason behind this slogan is numerous Turkish words in Romanian language and the interaction between these two languages. Romania aims to build bridges between languages, literature, culture, writers and publishers of two country with the activity program prepared. Romania will also be featured in the country booth in fair’s international hall. Romanian literature and culture will be comprehensively introduced in this section to be open for a total of four days. Romania Ministry of Culture Coordinator Alexandru Popescu and Dimitries Cantemir Romanian Cultural Center Director Nadia Tansu attended the press conference of the fair as well as TÜYAP Culture Fairs officials. Honorary illustrator of the fair with the title “Humor: Smiling Upon Life” was
identified. With the decision of advisory committee Tan Oral became a name honored by the book fair.
